The closest subway station (Queens Park) is a 8 minute walk.

If you come by bus, the main Toronto Bus Terminal (on Bay St.) is an 11 minute walk (or 8 minutes by public transit, or about $10 by taxi)

You can even come to the Buffalo Airport (prices inside the U.S. can sometimes be less expensive) and there is a Mega Bus from th Buffalo Airport that takes you directly to the main Toronto Bus Terminal. From there it is a quick walk. Download complete instructions below.

The closest commercial hotel is the Holiday Inn Toronto Bloor-Yorkville.
NOTE: This Holiday Inn is currently being renovated but renovations are scheduled to end in July, 2018. Apparently reservations cannot be made until then.

It is a nice clean hotel in the trendy Yorkville area of Toronto. To walk to the event location it is about a 12 minute walk straight down (south) St. George Street (which changes names to Beverley Street, south of College Street), so you can't get lost even if you try. By car, Uber or taxi it is only about a 4 minutes drive.

Another possibility is AirBnB the accomodation sharing service.
