All the milongas (and classes) for the TTX festival are in the beautiful main ballroom of the SPK Polish Hall in the heart of the University of Toronto district. It is fully air-conditioned and has a wonderful wooden floor for excellent dancing. It can accommodate over 300 people and is fully licensed if you would like to have a glass of wine at the milongas or during the meals.
The TTX festival starts with the free (yes FREE, as in no cost, gratis) pre-festival milonga on Wednesday September 19, 2018 and officially finishes on Sunday September 23, 2018 at 3am. BUT we also have our Niagara Falls After-Part on Momday September 24, 2018, which is a not to be missed excursion to one of the wonders of the world. Have you always wanted to visit Toronto, then come earlier or stay later and explore the city.
Toronto was named by UNESCO as the most multicultural city in the world. The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is less than a 5 minute walk from the TTX. The Royal Ontario Museum are less than a 10 minute walk. The trendy Yorkville shopping area is just a 15 minute walk. The world famous Niagara Falls is just one hour away.
Toronto is considered to be one of the safest cities in the world. There are many people walking alone in this area at all times of day and night. Of course, nothing is 100% safe, so you should always be careful.
There is free parking after 9pm on Beverley St (paid parking before). There is also paid public parking (underground) for over 280 cars within a 5 minute walk (213 Huron St.) for a rate of $10 per day on weekends, $20 a day on weekdays and $10 for evening parking.
There are many local restaurants in the area. Just south (less than 5 minutes) on Baldwin Street there are at least 10 restaurants, and if you walk on Cecil street west to Spadina Avenue (about 5 minutes) you will arrive at Toronto's Chinatown with a huge variety of Chinese (and other) restaurants. A minute or two away is Starbucks just up the street.
For a complete listing of nearby restaurants see this link to Google Maps.
Unforetunately there is no public Wi-Fi access at the Polish Hall
