All the milongas (and classes) for the TTX festival are in the beautiful main ballroom of the SPK Polish Hall in the heart of the University of Toronto district. It is fully air-conditioned and has a wonderful wooden floor for excellent dancing. It can accommodate over 300 people and is fully licensed if you would like to have a glass of wine at the milongas or during the meals.
The TTX festival starts with the free class & milonga (yes FREE, as in no cost, gratis) on Wednesday September 25, 2019 and officially finishes on Sunday September 29, 2019 at 3am.
Toronto was named by UNESCO as the most multicultural city in the world. The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is less than a 5 minute walk from the TTX. The Royal Ontario Museum are less than a 10 minute walk. The trendy Yorkville shopping area is just a 15 minute walk. The world famous Niagara Falls is just one hour away.
Toronto is considered to be one of the safest cities in the world. There are many people walking alone in this area at all times of day and night. Of course, nothing is 100% safe, so you should always be careful.
There is FREE parking for 80 cars during all class times & milongas starting on Thursday September 26 at 5pm (free parking is not available at other times). Parking is located across the street from the Polish Hall behind 25 Cecil St. (Steel Workers Hall). No parking pass is required. There is also free parking after 9pm on Beverley St (paid parking before). Also there is 24 hour paid public parking (underground) for over 280 cars within a 5 minute walk (213 Huron St.) for a rate of $10 per day on weekends, $20 a day on weekdays and $10 for evening parking.
There are many local restaurants in the area. Just south (less than 5 minute walk) on Baldwin Street there are over 20 restaurants, and if you walk on Cecil street west to Spadina Avenue (about 5 minutes) you will arrive at Toronto's Chinatown with a huge variety of Chinese (and other) restaurants.
